Manuel (Neco) L. Varela, 88 of New Bedford, Ma, passed away unexpectedly on December 14, 2024 at home in New Bedford, MA. Manuel (Neco) L. Varela is survived by loving wife and his companheira of many years Joana Varela. His children Joze (Ze) Varela and his wife Romilda, Joe (Djeta) Varela and his wife Michelle, Deolinda Lopez and her husband Richard, Mena Varela, Antonio (Toni) Varela and his wife Nely, Rui Varela and Michael Varela and his wife Kerry. His extended family, The Correia’s and The Ferreira’s along with his grand children and countless great grandchildren. Neco had a strong love of family and was deeply committed to his faith.

Visitation will be held at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave. Lincoln, RI 02865 on Friday December 20,2024 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. A Mass to celebrate Neco, will be held on Saturday December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m at Our Lady of Assumption Church, O.L.O.A at 47 South 6th St. New Bedford, MA.

Manuel (Neco) L. Varela will be sent home to his final place of rest at Cimiterio de Varzia in Praia, Cabo Verde.
